Jeff Prater is a Detective with the Colleyville Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit and serves on the U.S. Secret Service Cyber Crimes Task Force. With 23 years of experience, he has worked in SWAT, undercover operations, criminal interdiction, and as a Federal Task Force Officer and TCOLE Instructor. Detective Prater investigates complex cases involving conspiracy, organized crime, trafficking, money laundering, elder financial exploitation, identity theft, and fraud. He has coordinated multi jurisdiction operations with agencies like the FBI, IRS, and U.S. Secret Service. Detective Prater has successfully prosecuted state and federal cases, including high-profile financial crimes like Chinese gift card fraud, PPP fraud, and West African romance scams. He’s received several awards, including the 2021 IACP Leadership Award and two Officer of the Year Awards. He also trains law enforcement officers nationwide in financial crime investigation strategies and has presented case analysis nation wide for NW3C, US DOJ, and other organizations.
