Tanya Meisenholder, in her capacity as the Director of Gender Equity for the NYU Policing Project, is at the forefront of the 30x30 Initiative, a crucial effort to advance women in policing. With almost three decades of experience in law enforcement, primarily at the New York City Police Department (NYPD), Tanya has held several leadership positions, including Deputy Commissioner of Equity and Inclusion, Assistant Commissioner of Strategic Initiatives, and Chief of Staff to the First Deputy Commissioner. Her career has been marked by her facilitation of engagement efforts and leadership in organizational change initiatives, which have fostered transparency, collaboration, and accountability in the co-production of public safety.
Tanya attended the Police Executive Research Forum, Senior Management Institute for Police and is certified as a Modern Chief Diversity Officer and in Equal Employment Opportunity investigations by Cornell University. She serves on the University of Albany’s Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy Advisory Board and earned her Ph.D. in criminal justice from the State University of New York at Albany.
