Thomas Ford is a Police Officer for the Hingham, Police Department. He began his 17 year career as a Police Officer in Hingham and has served as a School Resource Officer for the past 11 years. During his time in the Patrol Division he earned the Mother’s Against Drunk Driving Award, was the Assistant Director of the Citizen’s Police Academy, a RAD/RAD Kids Instructor, an ALICE Instructor, and served as an Acting Sergeant. While serving as a School Resource Officer he developed a semester long criminal justice course for high school students and is an advisor for Students Against Destructive Decisions, and is on the Hingham Public Schools District Wide Security Team.
Officer Ford worked tirelessly with the Plymouth County District Attorney to implement the first Comfort Dog program in Plymouth County. His K-9 partner Opry is a certified Comfort Dog and has been serving since 2022. K-9 Opry is a 3 year old rescue dog from Texas and obtained several certifications, including AKC Advanced CGC Certification.
He serves as the Co-Lead Officer for the Plymouth Country Comfort Dog Program and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Western New England University.
