David Jones is currently the Chief of Police for the Hingham, Massachusetts Police Department. He began his 24-year career in law enforcement as a Police Officer in Hingham and rose through the ranks serving as a Patrol Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, and Deputy Chief of Police prior to being appointed as Chief of Police. He has worked in the Patrol Division, the Traffic Division, was a Field Training Officer, Director of the Citizen's Police Academy, certified Drug Recognition Expert, and was assigned to the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council.
During his tenure as Chief he has implemented a Drone Unit, hired a full-time Community Crisis Clinician, and expanded the K-9 Unit to add a narcotics detection K-9, friendly find K-9, and a comfort dog.
Chief Jones, in partnership with Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, brought the first Comfort Dog to the Plymouth County Team. He serves as the Co-Lead Chief on the Plymouth County Comfort Dog Program.
Chief Jones holds a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Curry College and a Master's Degree from Roger Williams University.
