Brent Newbanks is the Chief of Police for the Mead Police Department. The Town of Mead is located 20 minutes north of Denver, Colorado. The department, created in 2017, consists of 18 full-time employees. The Town of Mead is expected to grow significantly over the next five years. The Chief of Police is tasked with overseeing the development and growth of a community oriented department that is capable of embracing the growth while maintaining a strong community presence resulting in low crime rates.
Chief Newbanks has over 30 years of law enforcement experience in northern Colorado. He began his career at the Colorado State University Police Department, then spent nearly 25 years at the Loveland Police Department, before landing in Mead. His experience ranges from undercover narcotics to SWAT Commander. He has held the ranks of Officer, Detective, Sergeant, Detective Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Chief.
Chief Newbanks has a masters degree in Business Administration with an emphasis on Organizational Leadership from the American Military University. He is married with three children and enjoys exploring the Rocky Mountains when not at work.
