In September 2022, Renee Dominguez was hired as the Deputy Chief of Police for the Watertown Police Department, Watertown, CT after retiring from the New Haven Police Department as the Acting Chief of Police. She has been a police officer for 24 years; 2 years with the Newtown Police Department, 20 years with the New Haven Police Department, and currently 2 years with the Watertown Police Department. Throughout her career she has worked in many capacities. She has held the ranks and assignments of Patrol Officer, K9 Handler, Peer Support Coordinator, Hostage Crisis Negotiator, Patrol Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, Lieutenant in the Detective Bureau, Assistant Chief of Patrol/Operations, and Acting Chief of Police.
She has a master’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of New Haven, a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of New Haven and a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Southern Connecticut State University. She is married with 2 beautiful daughters.
