Juliana Palmer serves as a Policy Advisor at the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance, on the Law Enforcement Innovation and Crime Reduction division. Ms. Palmer oversees BJA’s Rural and Small Department Violent Crime Reduction efforts as well as the National Extreme Risk Protection Order Resource Center. Previously, she served as an Assistant Director at the Maryland Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention and Policy, where she oversaw the Justice Reinvestment Initiative and supported the Criminal Justice Programs division.
Ms. Palmer previously worked at the International Association of Chiefs of Police, managing several projects and providing training and technical assistance to law enforcement throughout the country on officer safety and wellness, suicide prevention, and building community trust. Ms. Palmer has also worked at a Maryland Circuit Court, where she managed the family drug treatment court and programs to support pro-se litigants. Ms. Palmer received her Master of Science in Justice, Law, and Criminology from American University’s School of Public Affairs, and her Bachelor of Arts from Salisbury University.
