Commander Andrew Donoghoe has been a member of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) since 1994 and has performed operational duties across the AFP’s national and international responsibilities, including deployments to the Philippines, the Netherlands, Ukraine and the United States.
In 2009 he trained as a CT Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) in the UK and has made significant contributions and improvements in policing capability in the areas of Investigations Doctrine and SIO Operations. In 2021, he qualified as one of the AFP’s first Gold SIOs.
Between 2014 and 2016, Andrew led the Australian offshore response to the downing of Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 in Ukraine - a deployment of over 100 personnel - and as SIO and Operations Commander, was awarded the AFP Commissioner’s Medal for Excellence and the AFP Operations Medal in 2018.
Since July 2022, he has been permanently based in Washington, DC performing the role of Commander Americas, leading the AFP's commitment throughout the Americas region in combatting terrorism, transnational crime, cybercrime, and espionage and foreign interference.
