Mark Pfetzer is an active law enforcement professional with 23 years of experience. After retiring from the San Juan County (NM) Sheriff's Office as the Administrative Captain, he remained in the field and now serves as the Administrative Manager for the Durango Police Department. Having held front line, middle management, and executive leadership roles, Mark takes a practical approach to problem-solving, seeking solutions are operationally realistic and achieves results. A strong desire to identify and mitigate risks led Mark into more formal training in the field of risk management where he is working to bridge disciplines to help organizations not be paralyzed by risk, but rather to effectively lead through it. Mark is a graduate of the FBINA Class 266 and is a founding member of Guardian Initiatives, a 501(c)3 working to raise awareness for first responder mental wellness and suicide prevention. Aside from his professional success, Mark has had many growth experiences which translate into his professional roles. From two attempts on Mount Everest to leading a three-man rowing crew across the Atlantic Ocean, Mark looks for ways to balance risk with achievement.
