Ed Monk is a city police officer, retired Army officer, former schoolteacher, and owner of Last Resort Training & Consulting. For the last 16 years, Ed has researched the Active Shooter threat and provided training on how to best plan for and respond to it with the goal of minimizing victims. He trains law enforcement agencies, schools, churches, businesses, and conferences nation-wide. In 2007, Ed retired from the Army as a Lieutenant Colonel and Battalion Commander after 24 years of active duty in the US, Europe, and Iraq. He then taught high school for four years. Ed’s formal education includes a BS in US History from West Point, an MS in Adult Education from Kansas State University, and he is a graduate of the US Army’s Command & General Staff College.
