Deputy Chief Reina holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education from Canisius College, Buffalo, New York and a Master’s degree in the Studies of Law from the University of Southern California.
He joined the Los Angeles Police Department in 1997 and has since held a variety of leadership positions such as Gang Enforcement Detail Sergeant, Pacific Area Beach Detail Officer in Charge, Hollywood Division Detective Lieutenant, SWAT Lieutenant, 77th Division and Central Area Captain, Central Bureau Commander, Traffic Group Commander, and Employee Relations Administrator. Deputy Chief Reina currently oversees the Department’s Training Bureau.
Deputy Chief Reina has vast experience in dealing with community issues, has developed and maintained important relationships between the Department and community stakeholders, is a passionate advocate for child welfare, and is the Captain of the Department's ice hockey team.
