Schenita Stewart serves as the Chief of Police for the Evanston Police Department. She brings years of experience in both executive leadership and police operations. Schenita embraces a strong commitment to teamwork and continually creates goals to help her people move forward.
Serving for over 25 years in law enforcement, Chief Stewart has dedicated much of her career with the Village of Lincolnwood Police Department. Her experience includes ensuring positive community partnerships, best practice policy implementation, budget development and implementation. Staff development and training focused on cultural sensitivity, internal investigations, labor-management relations, and accreditation standards (ILEAP).
In addition, Chief Stewart holds a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Chicago State University and has been a team member on the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force (NORTAF) from 2008 to 2018 serving as Team leader 2014 to 2018. Understanding the importance of building strong community relationships, Schenita currently teaches Community Relations to police recruits at the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy (SLEA).
