Captain
Madison (WI) Police Department
Madison, Wisconsin, United States
I started my career in policing in 2009 after a successful recruitment by former Chief Mike Koval. I applied to the department and was hired in 2009 as part of MPD’s 43th recruit class. I worked as a patrol officer on the city’s west side from 2009-2016 when I then put in for promotion to the rank of sergeant. In 2016 I was promoted to sergeant and continued working as a patrol sergeant and field training sergeant. In 2019, I was promoted to the rank of lieutenant and remained in patrol operations as the Patrol Lieutenant for the city’s North police district. In 2021, I was promoted to the rank of captain and have been serving in that capacity as the Executive Section Captain/Operations. My role as the Executive Captain is to oversee patrol staffing and operations as well as our K9 unit, Mounted Patrol unit, Officers in Charge and a civilian master scheduler. I have been a long-term member of our field training cadre, drone commander, staffing and employee feedback analysis and several other internal and external committees, organizations, and workgroups.
