Deputy Chief Arnold Williams was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He graduate from Murray-Wright high school in Detroit, Michigan. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry and a Graduate Certificate in Business, and a Master’s in Criminal Justice both from Wayne State University. Additionally, Deputy Chief Williams is a graduate of the first cohort of the Police Leadership Academy, University of Chicago Crime Lab.
Deputy Chief Williams has been a member of the Detroit Police department for over 26 years. He has worked in various assignments and positions. He was a patrol officer, and has extensive back ground in critical incident response and protest management. Deputy Chief Williams over his career, has been assigned to the Tactical Services Section, the Traffic Enforcement unit, the Training Unit, Metropolitan Division. He was a Precinct Commander, and also served as an Assistant Chief.
