Dr. Daniel Samo received his MD at The Chicago Medical School. His Residency was in Emergency Medicine through Northwestern University. He was an attending in Emergency Medicine for 10 years before founding an Occupation Medicine Practice. His current job is consultant to the Divisions of Health Promotion/Corporate Services and Public Safety Medicine at Northwestern Medicine. He is an Assistant Professor at Northwestern’s Feinberg School of Medicine.
He is very active in the Public Safety Medicine field. He has been a member of NFPA’s Technical Committee on Fire Service Occupational Safety and Health since 1996. He is also the Founder and Chair of the ACOEM Public Safety Medicine Section. In 2003 he founded and is still the Chair of the Task Group writing Guidance for the Medical Evaluation of Law Enforcement Officers.
He is a past officer of CSOEMA. He was a Board Director of ACOEM and is again a Director for 2020-2023. He is a regular presenter at AOHC, component society meetings as well as for police, fire, legal and lay audiences.
