Assistant Chief Sitts joined the RCPD in 2004 after serving in the United States Marine Corps and working for the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office. He began as a patrol officer and, in 2007, was assigned as a detective in the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2013 and returned to the Patrol Division. In 2014, he was reassigned to the Special Operations Division, and in 2015 was promoted to Lieutenant. In 2020, he was promoted to Administrative Captain, and in 2021, he became the Assistant Chief of Police. Scott has his Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and earned his Master’s degree in Business Administration and Strategic Leadership from Dakota Wesleyan University.
