Deputy Chief Stephen Williams started his law enforcement career in 2006. Deputy Chief Williams has moved through the ranks by working as a Patrol Officer, Intelligence Detective, Patrol Sergeant, Body Worn Camera and DVR Review Team Supervisor, Administrative Sergeant, Administrative Lieutenant for the Office of the Chief of Police, and Intelligence Division Commander. He holds a B.A. in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Texas at Arlington. Deputy Chief Williams is currently the Crime Plan Group Commander, comprising the Violent Crime Division and the Research and Development Division. Chief Williams’s goal is to transform Dallas into the safest city in America through the implementation of evidence-based policing strategies and enhanced community engagement initiatives.
