Special Agent in Charge, Washington
U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)
Jarod Forget has over 20 years of experience in law enforcement, concentrated on stopping drug overdoses and fentanyl poisonings in the United States by detecting, investigating, and prosecuting drug trafficking organizations involved in the illegal production, distribution, and diversion of controlled substances.
In 2004, he began working for the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), assigned to the New York Division and has since held various positions within the agency, rising through the ranks as a supervisor in the Miami Division and the Office of Professional Responsibility until becoming the Assistant Special Agent in Charge and later the Special Agent in Charge of the Washington Division.
He has led many global enforcement operations, worked to disrupt violent, large-scale transnational criminal networks, shut down illicit opioid dealers from China and Mexico, and established joint strike forces to combat local community issues like violent crime and substance use disorder. He spent several years at the Guadalajara, Mexico Office, directing many high-profile enforcement operations against Mexico’s most notorious and ruthless drug cartels, like the Sinaloa and Jalisco Cartels.
SAC Forget is responsible for expanding the DEA’s high level of investigative and regulatory services throughout the community, working on new and innovative ways to combat and protect families against the national fentanyl poisoning crisis and violent crime across the region, expanding public outreach and prevention programs, and providing important insight into the DEA’s work across the tri-state area.
He has a passion for the value of building community coalitions, helping families, and is keenly interested in local youth development through outreach and engagement organizations. He is a Massachusetts native, earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in international affairs from Northeastern University, and is a fluent Spanish speaker.
