Deputy Chief Joshua Stuenkel has served the Springfield, Illinois Police Department for 24 years. During his tenure, Stuenkel has acquired extensive experience in various capacities, including detective, detective supervisor, patrol supervisor, investigations division commander, and assistant chief. In his current role, Deputy Chief Stuenkel oversees several critical areas, including the training division, records, evidence, accreditation, and the fiscal section. He holds an MA in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration from Western Illinois University and is a graduate of Northwestern's School of Police Staff and Command.
Deputy Chief Stuenkel is also involved in community and professional organizations. He has served on several boards and was previously the President of the PB&PA Unit #5. Currently, he is the Co-Chairperson of Springfield Engage Empower and Deflect (S.E.E.D.). Through these roles, he has demonstrated a commitment to improving community relations and advancing the field of law enforcement. His leadership and dedication continue to make a significant impact on the Springfield Police Department and the community it serves.
