Dr. Jeremy Ackerman has served the Fulton County Police Department as the Medical Director and Tactical Physician in a volunteer capacity since 2017. He became a sworn officer in 2019 and serves as a member of the Department's SWAT Team. Dr. Ackerman is an instructor for the Fulton County Public Safety Training Center. Dr. Ackerman is a practicing Emergency Physician at the Grady Memorial Hospital (Atlanta, Georgia) Emergency Care Center and is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine in the Emory University School of Medicine Department of Emergency Medicine. He completed medical school and a PhD in Biomedical Engineering at the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill, North Carolina) and completed residency training in Emergency Medicine a Stonybrook University (Stonybrook, New York). He is a board certified in Emergency Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. He serves in leadership roles in the Tactical and Law Enforcement Medicine sections of the American College of Emergency Physicians and the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine.
