Deputy Chief Dianne Bernhard of the Columbia, MO, Police Department retired after 22 years of service to become the Executive Director of Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) in March 2014. Dianne has a Master's Degree in Public Administration from the University of Missouri. Dianne came to know C.O.P.S. through the line-of-duty death of a co-worker, Officer Molly Bowden, in 2005. C.O.P.S. serves over 80,000 police survivors nationwide providing assitance filing for benefits, peer support retreats, scholarships, counseling, and training for law enforcement in responding to line of duty death. C.O.P.S. plays a major role in organizing the events of National Police Week.
