David T. Snively, Ph.D. has worked in public safety since 2007, rising from 911 dispatcher to Interim Chief of Police. He now serves as the Assistant Director of Policy and Governance at the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP). Dr. Snively is a graduate of Northwestern University's School of Police Staff and Command and the Police Executive Research Forum’s Senior Management Institute for Police. He is also a P.O.S.T. certified Master Instructor, and holds specialty instructor certificates including Use of Force, De-Escalation, Firearms, and TASER. In addition to his professional experience, Dr. Snively is an affiliate instructor at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia, where he earned his Ph.D. in Criminal Justice and Criminology. His research focuses on the impacts of education requirements on police behavior and agency diversity. Dr. Snively is a National Institute of Justice LEADS Scholar and a Doctoral Fellow of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences.
