Supervisory Special Agent Kathryn Rivera is a 23-year veteran of the United States Capitol Police in Washington, DC. Where she held positions in patrol as a Field Training Officer, in the Criminal Investigations Section as an Agent Training Officer and member of the Fedeal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI's) Washington Field Office's Cyber Task Force where she was part of the January 6th Capitol Devices Team. Currently, Supervisory Special Agent Rivera is the supervisor of the newly formed United States Capitol Police's Special Investigations Section, leading the department in cyber investigations and counterintelligence.
The Capitol Devices Team leveraged multidisciplinary technical expertise with the goal of designing a computer system capable of processing, analyzing, and querying data sets related to mobile devices unlawfully present within restricted areas of the United States Capitol Grounds on January 6, 2021. The system revolutionized the way the FBI processes, analyzes, presents large sets of data to investigative teams spread throughout the country, and successfully supported one of the largest cases in the Justice Department’s history
