Dr. Katie Zafft has over 10 years of experience working on justice system policy evaluation and implementation of reform efforts at the local, state, and federal level. Dr. Zafft's portfolio of work at the Crime and Justice Institute (CJI) is to manage policing and evaluation efforts that advance positive changes in support of fair and equitable practices that directly impact the safety of all communities. She has worked with departments to advance mandated change and agencies focused on self-directed innovation to guide and support implementation of initiatives that directly benefit officers and the communities they serve. Dr. Zafft is committed to advancing better justice systems by developing strong foundations for data-driven decision-making because it leads to better policing, more equitable practices, and safer interactions between officers and the public. She holds a PhD in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland, a Master’s Degree in Criminology from the University of Minnesota-Duluth, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from St. Catherine’s University in St. Paul, Minnesota.
