Stephen Redfearn is the Chief of Police for the City Boulder Police Department. Stephen joined Boulder PD in 2021 as the Deputy Police Chief. Prior to joining Boulder PD in 2021, he served with the Aurora Police Department for 22 years and worked in every division including being the Commanding Officer of District 1, the Night Shift Duty Captain, the Commanding Officer of the Major Crimes Unit, and working in the Vice and Narcotics Unit and East Metro Auto Theft Task Force. Stephen was a first responder to the Century 16 movie theater shooting and oversaw the hospital transport of victims in police cars. Stephen is proud to consult for the Office of Victims of Crime under the Department of Justice and also serve as a Subject Matter Expert for the Colorado Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP) legislative committee. Stephen is the founding President of the Colorado Fallen Hero Foundation, a non-profit that assists agencies and families of officers killed in the line of duty. Stephen holds a BS in Criminal Justice from the Metropolitan State College of Denver, and a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership fr om the Colorado State University.
