Doug Shoemaker is a 33-year veteran of policing, spending the last 6 years as the Chief of Police for the Denton, TX Police Department and the Grand Junction, CO Police Department. He spent nearly 27 years with the Jefferson City MO Police Department in various roles rising to the #2 position in the agency.
He is a member of the IACP Past Leaders Group, the Texas Police Chiefs Association, NAWLEE, IAWP, and NOBLE. Doug has served on various IACP committees and sections, including serving as the Vice Chair of the PIO Section, the Chair of the Police Professional Standards and Ethics Committee, and was elected as the 5th Vice President for IACP ascending to the position of 3rd Vice President before his retirement from policing in 2024.
Doug is a Founding Board Member of The Curve (www.thecurve.org), a collaborative initiative with renowned author and speaker Simon Sinek, with the goal to change the way we look at police leadership training and culture.
Doug is now a Public Safety Executive for Peregrine, a real-time decision and operations management platform that empowers public safety agencies with the data they need to solve their hardest problems and do their best work.
