American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) – Massachusetts Chapter
In 2005, Michele’s father, a Police Officer at Ithaca College, took his own life after struggling with depression. A few years after his death she and her family connected with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). She has been dedicated to helping others cope with a loved one’s suicide and reducing the stigma around depression ever since. She started as a volunteer with AFSP in New York and has been a member of the staff team in Massachusetts for 7 years. She is deeply passionate about empowering law enforcement to contribute to suicide prevention efforts, mitigating risk within the field, and supporting the families who have lost an officer to suicide.
