This panel will explore strategies to foster engagement between police and their local community violence intervention (CVI) partners. With a focus on the shared goals of reducing violence and creating safer communities, panelists will discuss their experiences leveraging individual strengths to develop mutual professional understanding of the distinct roles and responsibilities of police and their CVI counterparts. Panelists will share how they use data to identify community members most at risk for shooting or being shot and practical steps to intervene and partner to keep people and communities safe. They will also explore how CVI programs can complement police violence reduction strategies to form a comprehensive violence reduction strategy to create safer communities and enhance community trust.
