Thurston L. Bryant is a Senior Policy Advisor at the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) with over 22 years of expertise at the Office of Justice Programs (OJP), U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), developing and managing national high-profile programs. His current portfolio includes BJA’s Missing and Unidentified Human Remains Program, Strengthening the Medical Examiner-Coroner System Program, Forensics Training and Technical Assistance Program, Elevate Blue: Essential Training for Law Enforcement, and other law enforcement projects. Previously he developed and managed several BJA criminal justice reform programs and forensic science programs at the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) under The President’s DNA Initiative. He’s the recipient of the Attorney General’s Award for Excellence in Management, NIJ Team awarded the Samuel Heyman Services to America Medals, graduate of DOJ’s Leadership Excellence & Achievement Program, and detail assignment at FBI Headquarters focused on countering violent extremism efforts and DOJ’s Office of Legislative Affairs. He received his M.A. degree in Sociology (Criminology) from Auburn University, Auburn AL.
