Karen Maline is a Project Manager at IACP and works on the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA)-funded Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Use Program (COSSUP) Training and Technical Assistance Initiative. She joined IACP in 2016 to manage the association’s work on the Safety and Justice Challenge (SJC), an initiative funded by the MacArthur Foundation to encourage the creation of just and effective local justice systems. These projects aim to provide training and resources to law enforcement agencies that promote solutions at the front-end of the justice system to address justice-related challenges faced by their communities. Ms. Maline is a leader in, and IACP’s liaison to the Police, Treatment, and Community Collaborative (PTACC), an organization whose purpose is to provide vision, leadership, advocacy, and education on the practice of pre-arrest deflection across the United States and globally. Before joining IACP, Ms. Maline worked for 28 years at the Justice Research and Statistics Association (JRSA). She has a B.A. in history from the University of Florida and an M.S.in criminal justice from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.
