Joe Abrusci retired after 30 years with the Mt. Olive Township Police Department in New Jersey. He is the Drug Evaluation and Classification Program Eastern Region Project Manager for the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
Mr. Abrusci served as a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police Technical Advisory Panel and is a past chairman of the DRE Section. He has been a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) since 1999, and a DRE Instructor since 2001. He is a past President of the New Jersey Drug Recognition Expert Association. He brought the SFST program to NJ in 1983 and was the state’s first SFST instructor. He helped to get the DRE program established in NJ in 1991 and has been involved with the program since.
Mr. Abrusci has been recognized in local and superior courts in New Jersey as a Drug Recognition Expert and Traffic Crash Reconstructionist.
