Brian Manley served the Austin Police Department for 30 years, spending the last four as the Chief of Police. During his tenure, Chief Manley led many areas of the Department, including Patrol, Narcotics, Child Abuse, Homicide, Highway Enforcement, Internal Affairs, Special Operations & Homeland Security, and Recruiting & Training.
One key priority of his administration was to improve the health and wellness of those serving, both commissioned and civilian, which gave rise to a keystone accomplishment: the creation of the APD Health and Wellness Bureau. He also led the unified efforts of federal, state, and local law enforcement officers during the Austin Serial Bombings in the Spring of 2018. That same year, Chief Manley was recognized by Fortune magazine as one of the 50 “World’s Greatest Leaders.”
A graduate of the University of Texas, Chief Manley earned a BBA degree in Finance and later, a Master of Science in Leadership and Ethics degree from St. Edward’s University. He is also a graduate of the PERF's Senior Management Institute for Police and the MCCA's Police Executive Leadership Institute (PELI).
Chief Manley now serves as the Presdent of Off Duty Management.
