Mark Collins first entered policing as a Special Constable in the Carmarthen in 1987, serving as a volenteer officer. But his committment to policing was cemented in 1991 when he became a Police Constable with the Metroploitan Police in London. This led him to the Dyfed- Powys Police in 1995 and over the next ten years he worked in all four counties serving at every rank up to Superintendent in both uniform policing and criminal investigations.
From there onwards a slew of appointments followed him. In 2006, Detective Superintendent to lead the first Whales Extremism and Counter Terriorism Unit. In 2008 temporary Detective Chief Superintendent, Deputy Coordinator for preventing Violent Extremism and delivering HM Government Contest Strategy based in London with a notional remit. 2019 a Fellow of the University of Whales Trinity Saint David. 2021Commissioner of Police for the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force in the British Virgin Islands. First Vice President of the Association of Caribbean Commissioners of Police. British Overseas Territries lead for the Women in Policing. He holds a BScin Criminal Justice. Chair of the Board of Governors for Rhydygors in Carmarthen
