Hank Prim is a Supervisory Special Agent with the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), where he concurrently serves as both the State Law Enforcement Training Administrator and the Executive Secretary (Director) for the South Dakota Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Training Commission. In this role, Hank directs the state’s sole police academy, manages statewide law enforcement officer certification and training, as well as supervises officer misconduct investigations. Prior to his promotion, Hank was a Special Agent assigned to the DCI’s Field Operations Bureau, where he led and supported complex felony-level criminal investigations encompassing drug offenses, violent crime, and white-collar/financial crime. As ancillary roles, Hank was a task force officer with the U.S. Marshals Service's Dakota Territory Fugitive Task Force, a crisis/hostage negotiator, and a law enforcement trainer. Hank holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Economy from Hillsdale College, and earned his Master of Science degree in Law Enforcement & Public Safety Leadership from the University of San Diego.
