Captain Miriam Foxx began her career in law enforcement in 1998 as a Police Recruit with the Chula Vista Police Department. She worked various assignments, including patrol officer, Mobile Field Force, Honor Guard, Street Team/Gang Suppression, Crisis Negotiations Team, and Crimes of Violence (Gangs) detective. As a Sergeant she worked in Patrol, Property Crimes Unit, and Professional Standards Unit. As a Lieutenant she worked as a Watch Commander, in the Professional Standards, and Criminal Investigations, Strategic Operations units with the additional duties of Public Information Officer. In April 2022, Captain Foxx assigned to oversee the Support Operations Division and then to Captain of Investigations in October 2022. Currently, Captain Foxx oversees Patrol Operations Division.
Before her career with the Chula Vista Police Department, Captain Foxx was in the United States Navy. She retired as a Commissioned Officer after 22 years of combined Active and Reserve duty. She has a MS in Administration of Justice and Security and a BS in Business Management from the University of Phoenix. She is also a graduate of California P.O.S.T. Command College (Class 65).
