Deputy Chief Greg Fried has worked in public safety for over twenty-five years and has been with the Fairfax County Police Department (Virginia) for over 20 years, serving as the Commander of the Administrative Support Bureau, overseeing the Personnel, Human, Financial Resources, and Health and Wellness Divisions.
Previously, Deputy Chief Fried was commander of Patrol Bureau IV, overseeing the Mount Vernon and Franconia Police Districts, and served three years as Commander of the Franconia District Station and the Crisis Negotiation Team.
Deputy Chief Fried has a bachelor’s degree in government from Liberty University, a graduate certificate in Criminal Justice Education from the University of Virginia, and a master’s Degree in public administration from Old Dominion University. Deputy Chief Fried graduated from the 289th session of the FBI National Academy, the Police Executive Research Forum Senior Management Institute for Police, and the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police Professional Executive Leadership School at the University of Richmond.
Deputy Chief Fried currently serves on IACP’s Police Administration Committee.
