Olivier Brun is an accomplished senior advisor and government professional with more than 25 years of extensive experience dealing with defense and security issues. His core competencies include building security and safety strategies, negotiation and drafting of governmental and inter-agencies agreements, leadership of high-profile professional teams, capacity to deal with crises and advising on strategy for crucial decisions. He combines solid law enforcement training, familiarity with a wide range of professional environments, an ability to think analytically and creatively, and highly effective communication skills. As Police Superintendent and Civil Administrator, he has proven to have an in-depth understanding of government policies, exercised operational and strategic responsibilities in complex environments, having contact with the highest decision-makers and business leaders. As Adviser for the Olympic Games of the General Director of the French National Police, leading a tight team, he was responsible for strategic monitoring, planning and coordination of the Police departments involved, in preparing the security aspect of this great event. Olivier Brun joined the National Police Executive Academy in 1999, after one year as a military officer with the French Joint Staff, and started as the head of Investigation Unit in the 11th District of Paris. He then moved to a Cybercrime Division at the Ministry of Interior, where he managed and supervised technical and operational fields, while elaborating legal and administrative regulations. After that, he joined the Prime Minister's office in 2008. First, he leaded the Threat Assessments staff, writing keynotes and assessments and preparing files for high-level decision makers. He was later assigned as deputy Director of the French Intelligence Academy. Lastly, he was appointed as Assistant Director in charge of information protection, coordinating measures and policies, animating high-level working groups and representing the French national security authority internationally.
Coming back to the Ministry of Interior in 2018, he was in charge of Innovation and Prescription of Equipment in the Purchasing, Innovation, and Logistics Department of the Ministry, where he also managed an industrial site and a laboratory. Olivier Brun is also a PhD from the Sorbonne University, a historian specializing in the French Police, an associate researcher at a Sorbonne laboratory (SIRICE), a member of the French Society of Police History and the author of several books.
