Sergeant George Suarez is a 27-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. He has held positions in Custody and worked at the Inmate Reception Center, Twin Towers and Men’s Central Jail. After completing patrol training at Lakewood Station, he served as a Special Assignment Office and Detective for 10 years. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and worked a patrol assignment at Norwalk Station. Sergeant Suarez accepted a new position at Training Bureau tasked with the creation of the Departments Crisis Intervention Training program. Due to his compassion, work ethic, and attention to detail, he was asked to join the Mental Evaluation Team unit. At this unit he created the Departments first Mental Health Detective unit known as the Risk Assessment Management Program (RAMP). Sergeant Suarez Joined the Crisis Negotiation Team
in 2016. His most recent assignment is with the Los Angeles County Homeless Outreach Services Team. Sergeant Suarez has honed his skills in the area of Mental Health and Homeless Outreach, serving the most vulnerable population of Los Angeles County. He has served to create and foster a paradigm shift in Law Enforcement thinking from the Warrior Mentality to the Guardian Effect in 21st century policing
