Shari Konarske’s career assisting crime victims spans over thirty-four years. She currently works for the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) as the Victim Witness Specialist (Central Region), responsible for providing direct services to victims and witnesses in a 19-state area.
Prior to joining ATF, Ms. Konarske was the Victim Witness Coordinator for the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Northern District of Iowa, where she oversaw the Victim Witness Program for nineteen years.
Ms. Konarske started her career at the Linn County Iowa Attorney’s Office as the first Victim Witness Coordinator in that office. She developed and oversaw the Victim Witness Program, providing assistance to victims of violent crimes for nine years.
Ms. Konarske has received national awards for her work with crime victims, including 2023 U.S. Department of Justice, Criminal Division Assistant Attorney General’s Award for Distinguished Service and a National Crime Victim Service Award from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office for Victims of Crime.
Ms. Konarske is a graduate of the University of Iowa and the National Victim Assistance Academy.
