Assistant Chief Crystal Young-Haskins is an eighteen-year law enforcement veteran. She began her career with the Little Rock Police Department in 2006 and promoted through the ranks. In 2022, she was appointed Interim Chief in Little Rock before joining the Tacoma Police Department in July of 2022, as an Assistant Chief. Currently, she serves as the Bureau Commander for the Operations Bureau where she oversees daily operations for Patrol and Community Policing Divisions.
Assistant Chief Young-Haskins holds a Master of Education (M.Ed.) and Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice (B.C.J.) from Park University (Parkville, Missouri). She is a graduate of the 2014 IACP WLI and the 265th Session FBINA, where she earned a Graduate Certificate from the University of Virginia (2016). Currently, she is enrolled in NOBLE’s CEO Mentor Program.
Assistant Chief Young-Haskins was selected as a recipient of the 2020 IACP 40 Under 40 Award and recently joined the IACP Women’s Leadership Institute Instructor Cadre. She is a member of the IACP, NOBLE, NAWLEE, FBINAA , Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs, and Pierce County Police Chiefs Associations.
