Inspector Mario Mastropieri was born and raised in Vancouver, BC. After completing his post-secondary education in criminology, he began his policing career in 2001 by joining the New Westminster Police Department. Mario served in various roles including the Municipal Integrated ERT, Drug Section, Violence Suppression Team, CFSEU surveillance, Health and Wellness Committee, and the Major Crime Unit before joining the Vancouver Police Department in 2012.
In 2019, Mario was promoted to Sergeant and was subsequently assigned to the Jail, and Strike Force Surveillance. Following a promotion to Staff Sergeant in 2022, Mario was assigned to the Operations Command Center and District 4. In 2024, Mario was promoted to Inspector and his current role is Intergovernmental Relations.
Mario has played key roles on numerous organizational projects including managing Project Barcode. Mario is an experienced police officer and has a wealth of experience as an instructor in firearms training, surveillance course, Driver Training course, and Tactical Vehicle Takedowns. Throughout his career, Mario has received six personal Commendations and three Unit Citations.
