Karen Baroudi joined the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) in 2009. Through her many years with the International Liaison Unit, Ms. Baroudi has been a point of contact for foreign police and governments requesting to work with LASD on policing matters. Being a resource for law enforcement agencies worldwide through assistance and training is a priority for LASD, and Ms. Baroudi spearheads these efforts to improve public safety worldwide.
Ms. Baroudi's work includes liaising with over 96 consulates based in Los Angeles County. Ensuring that LASD fulfills its notification and access obligations to the Consular Corps under the Vienna Convention is paramount to Ms. Baroudi’s work. Ms. Baroudi’s command of multiple languages and background in diplomacy and world affairs have proven valuable in many complex situations.
A survivor of the Lebanese Civil War, Ms. Baroudi views working with law enforcement as her chance to open doors. In 15 years on the job, she has received multiple commendations for her accomplishments while staying rooted in the belief of service to the community. In 2023, she was honored to receive the IACP's prestigious 40 under 40 award.
